"Design Coordination is the most important function of design management: the relation of different pieces of cooperate design to form a house style. As part of design management it is at the same higher level. It is quite possible for a corporation to commission large amounts of visual design, without any design coordination at all. On the other hand, design coordination may be done by someone who does not design any particular item"
"A Corporate Identification system is a subdivision of house style, governing elements such as coulees, symbols and logotypes which have no other purpose but to identify the corporation they belong to."
Design Coordination and Corporate Image probably the first publication that dealing with Corporate Image at professional level and chooses well-selected examples on a worldwide basis. There are 27 corporate image examples in this book. I do like how they present the logo and their applications. They show variety of problem solving for designing corporate image.
The dust jacket of the cover definitely gets my attention. A book format with combination 3 columns and 4 columns grid is very pleasant to see. The combination between san serif and serif is blending nicely. Sans serif only uses for the title of the corporate name. Even though most of the pictures are in black and white, the examples show how does the logo work for many different kinds of applications. This book is one of my reference when I started designing corporate identity. If you are interested in logo and branding, this book is highly recommended.
