Holger Matthies was born in Hamburg, Germany on May 26 1940. He studied at the Werkkunstschule and five terms at the Hochschule fur bildenden kuns in Hamburg. Since 1965, He has been working as a freelance graphic designer specially in poster design and his poster has won numerous awards nationally and internationally.
Matthies has been designing posters for theater and opera performances, art and museum exhibitions, social and political, and music. He seems to have unlimited ideas to make excellent posters. The different ways and styles have been explored from photo, collage, and straight typography. The combination among shapes, forms and colors make the poster striking. Some of the posters look very simple and others look very complicated. He is skilled in making any posters for different purposes.
