Sebastiao Rodrigues was born on 28 of January 1929 in Lisbon, Portugal. He started his career as graphic designer in 1945 working for Advertising Arts Workshop (APA). In 1954, Rodrigues was commissioned to design Portuguese pavilions in Sao Paulo and continue to design Portuguese Pavilion 1956 (Rome), 1957 (Lausanne) and 1958 (Brussels). In 1959, Rodrigues earned scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to travel to the north of Portugal to collect graphic material roots. There is no wonder most of his work has Portuguese influences. The sense of color remind me of Portuguese's ceramics, very light and bright. In 1961, he did book and typographic design for Gulbenkian Foundation and for Museum of Ancient Art. I do also enjoy how he chooses and treats the typefaces. The illustrators are really simple and warm. Wonderful work indeed.
