Bob Noorda was born on July 15 1927 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He studied at Amsterdam Institute of Design. He moved to Milan in 1954 where he started his career. He did many collaborating with Pirelli Tyre Corporation before he became Art Director of Pirelli in 1961. He also worked as a design consultant for La Rinascente from 1963 to 1964. In 1963, he worked with Franco Albini to design the interiors and Signage system for the new Metropolitan Milanese that opened door for him to worked on underground transit system in Sao Paolo and Naples. In 1965, he co-founder Unimark International along side with Massimo Vignelli where they designed signage for the New York City subway. Unimark offices opened 13 offices worldwide before they felt apart in 1970's. Afterward he along side his wife, Ornella Vitali Noorda opened their own design studio in Milan.
