Kurt Hauert was born on July 19, 1924 in Aarau, Switzerland. In the early of his education he studied mathematics and science before he enter the foundation course at the AGS (Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Basel known as Basel School of Design). From 1946 to 1949, he studied in major a teaching degree in drawing, writing, and handicraft. in 1949, he move to Paris to study copperplate printing and etching.
In 1950, he started to teach drawing, writing, and handicraft at the AGS and in 1952 became a head of the class "paper and cardboard". He didn't stop to learn and studied graphic design from 1952 to 1957 at the AGS while he ran courses at the school. In 1960, Hauert was hired to be a full time teacher at AGS. In 1968, taught advanced graphic design classes and courses to the public for 20 years. He dedicates his life for teaching
I do really like the playfulness of his logo YWZ. He combined the negative and the positive of the letters. The strokes and drawing of his poster give a warm feeling to the posters. The line drawing shows his sophistication of his drawing skill.
