Ootje Oxenaar is born on October 7th, 1929 in The Hague, Netherlands. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He worked for the Dutch Central Bank where he designed series of Banknotes: 5 Guilders, 10 Guilders, 25 guilders, 1000 guilders and the revolutionary series of banknote which has no portrait are 50 guilders, 100 guilders and 250 guilders from 1966 to 1985.
"The creative processs was very simple: paper and pencil. I was just sketching. When I presented my sketches, they were actual size and I used a bit of watercolour, pencil and coloured pencils… good quality ones"
Ovenaar taught at Delft University of Technology from 1970 to 199. In 1970, he was employed by the Department of Art and design at the PTT as a deputy director. His job was to maintain the corporate identity of the company. He also designed tamps.
