Theo Ballmer was born in Basel, Switzerland on September 1902. In 1920, after high school he started an apprenticeship as a lithographer. From 1926 to 1929 he worked as a graphic designer responsible for the advertising firm de Hoffmann-La Roche. In 1928 he enroll to Bahaus in Dessau focusing in photography. After Bahaus closed in 1930, he returned to Swiss. He designed a number of political posters.
His posters are very geometric following with his typefaces. It might be strong connection with bauhaus typeface designed by Hebert Bayer in 1925. The norm poster just looks very extraordinary. It looks timeless.
