A rich collection of visual puns that have been used in successful print ads, posters, books, newspapers, magazines, corporate logos, and identity program are included. Each of the 150 examples has an informative caption that explains the technique used to obtain the effect.
Visual Puns in Design is a nice book to have. This book is in the collection of Experimental Jetset' libary.
It was Fall 2004 when I first met Eli Kince. I was a student in his foundation class. It was a class that I enjoyed and in it I learned to design something from line, dot, square and triangle. This was the beginning of my journey as a typographer. He taught us how to see and think. I am lucky to have attended his class. He was taught by many design legends such as Armin Hofmann, Andre Gutler, Bradbury Thompson, Dan Friedman and Paul Rand, to name a few. I might have not been taught by many legendary designers, but Eli was a key for me in finding them.
After I graduated in 2007, I had a chance to work with him. The poster was our last work together but I am still hoping to work with him again in the near future. It was a great experience since I was given total freedom from conceptional to design the ad poster for NEWWORK MAGAZINE. If you are interested to see the design process, please click here. Thank you Eli for giving me valuable directions and Reina for making the poster look better.
