A wonderful book from Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, focusing on the typefaces in the late 20th century and early 21st century. The first page on the book is a rectangular blue box with green tape binding. The up side down type makes my self wonders if it's the right orientation. It starts with introduction by Andres Janser.
The first project they feature is Cholla (1999) designed by Sibylle Hagmann. A typeface that inspired by the shapes of Cholla. It continues with Siemens typeface (2000) designed by Hans-Jurg Hunziker. The elegant new didot designed by Francois Rappo called Didot Elder. A " devilish little tails"on C, G, S and g make absolute distinctive typeface. Nice pictogram developed by Ruedi Baur and typeface designed by Norm for Köln Bonn Airport look very playful. BMW typeface (2001) designed by Bruno Mag shows the company's image.
The book introduced me to a wonderful typeface, Akkurat, for the first time. Another project from Ruedi Baur collaborated with Andre Baldinger for the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris. The books continued featuring works from Phillipp Stamm, Victor Stampfli, Hans Eduard Meier, The Remingtons / Ludovic Balland, Elektrosmog and Pierre Miedinger, Nico Schweizer and many more.
A nice book to have if you are very interest in typography. The book is printed in the matte paper and I do like the duo tone color throughout the book. It's nice to see the way Leander treated the bilingual book. The top of the page is in Germany and the bottom is in English.
