Aloisio Sergio Magalhães was born on November 05 1927 in Pernambuco, Brazil. Magalhaes started study law but he gave up in 1951. He went to Paris to study at Ecole du Louvre and Atelier 17. In 1959, he went back to Brazil to organize workshop with his friends for modern typography in Recife. In 1962, he co-founded the first Latin American school of design, Esola superior de desenho industrial in Rio de Jenero. In 1965, he won the first prize in nation competition to design new series of Brazilian Banknotes.
