













Ruedi Baur was born on March 5, 1956 in Paris. He spent his childhood in France and then moved to Switzerland to learn graphic design with Michael Baiviera. He obtained his diploma in graphic design in 1979 at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zurich.
He created BBV studio in Lyon in 1983. In 1989 he directed the Integral Ruedi Baur Studios in Paris, Zurich and Berlin which comprising the studios of five independent partners, who are able to intervene jointly on any cross-disciplinary project. He started to teach on a regular basis in 1987. Between 1989 and 1994, he coordinated the department of design 'information space' at the École des Beaux-Arts, Lyons. In 1995, he was hired at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, became a rector from 1997 to 2000.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2007 from University of Laval, Quebec. His works are published in various country and presented at various exhibition. In 2009, I had a chance to present his work at NEWWORK MAGAZINE along side STUDIO NEWWORK. I have always been admiring his signage designs. They look beautiful, functional and fun.
